Simple Tips for Decorating the Entryway for Christmas
- December 13, 2017 by The Find in Inspiration
The tree is glittering and your home’s exterior is twinkling with festive lighting. How about turning your entryway into a holly, jolly space for welcoming family and friends? Try these simple tips for decorating the entryway this holiday season.
Begin with Organizing
The entryway can be a place for clutter, so begin by clearing out anything that may have accumulated – shoes, magazines, backpacks, junk mail, whatever. Once you’ve found a new home for these items, you’ll likely be left with furniture pieces, like a bench or table, and decor like mirrors, artwork, hooks and lamps. You can add or remove pieces as you begin adding Christmas elements.
And here’s a tip – a cheerful red boot tray or sturdy woven basket is festive for this time of year and will help keep clutter at bay.
Incorporate Greenery
Fresh or faux greenery – think pre-light garlands, candle wreaths, even mini trees – will add classic Christmas texture and character to furniture and wall decor in your entryway. Think creatively. You can wind greenery around table lamps or a nearby staircase, lean a wreath against the wall on a console table, or tuck a small decorated tree in the corner.
Add Festive Elements
From vintage Christmas signs and wreaths, to clusters of natural elements like pinecones and berries, to red tartan bows dressing up trays and lanterns, you can add as much or as little Christmas decor to your entryway as you want.
At The Find, we have a number of beautiful ornaments that double as small decor pieces. These sweet little ornaments light up for a cheerful and festive effect. To work them into your entryway design, try clustering one or a few on a rustic wood slice or holiday tray set on a side table or bench.
Adding candles can be another great way to create a multi-sensory effect – a warm, nostalgic scent and cozy flickering light make an entryway instantly inviting.
If you opt for twinkling lights in your greenery instead of candles, try adding a bowl of seasonal potpourri somewhere. Citrus, cinnamon, clove or peppermint are all on point for seasonal scents.
The Find is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and we invite you to come in and see our beautiful Christmas decor. And if you’re in need of the perfect furniture piece for your entryway – side table, beautiful upholstered chair, bench, hall tree or something else – we can help you with that, too!
