Simple Steps to the Right Sectional for Your Space

It’s no secret that we adore sectional sofas here at The Find in Reno. Today’s styles have come a long way from the over-scaled, unappealing sectionals of the last decade, and there’s no longer any need to compromise on style and aesthetics. If you’re dying for a cozy spot to curl up, here are a few simple steps to finding the right sectional for your space.
The Basics
At The Find, we offer beautiful sectionals in two classic options – the U-shape and the L-shape. Step one is deciding which configuration works best for your space and your lifestyle, and the easiest way to do that is with a floor plan. You don’t have to be a great artist, but do your best to draw your room to scale. Cut out squares to represent the sectional dimensions, and start playing to see what works. Take note of things like traffic patterns, entry and exit points, existing furniture you want to keep, and focal points. This kind of visualizing is a form of spatial planning, which is something we’re pleased to offer at no charge here at The Find. A Few Notes
If a sectional is labeled as right-arm facing, that means the arm is on your right as you look at it, not while you’re seated. Once you’ve decided on a configuration you love, double check those measurements – and don’t forget the depth! Many sectionals have a generous depth, so it’s a good idea to use a tape measure against your existing sofa for an idea of what you’ll be getting. Don’t limit your measurements to just the sectional. You’ll need to be sure you can fit it through doorways, hallways, and/or stairs. Fortunately, the sectionals here at The Find are made of two or more pieces, so you won’t have to wrangle a single enormous piece of furniture through the front door.
